Lynchburg Launch Festival Kicks off the James River Batteau Festival with Family Fun on June 17

Join the James River Association at the Lynchburg Launch Festival on Saturday, June 17. The event, a kick off for the James River Batteau Festival, will be held at Percival’s Island from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Watch the launch of replica batteaux as they begin their journey down the river and enjoy activities highlighting the history and ecology of the James River. The Lynchburg Launch Festival will feature traditional live music and live demonstrations, environmental activities, crafts for children, and a petting zoo. A variety of nonprofits will be in attendance to offer educational activities about the history and ecology of Lynchburg. Children will be encouraged to participate in an educational scavenger hunt to learn something from each organization. All completed scavenger hunts will be entered to win a prize.

Food will be for sale by local food trucks Mama Croketts Donuts, Nomad Coffee Company, The Frosty Penguin and Upper Crust Pizza.
